TINA is an ERP application developed especially for the travel industry by dcs+. The development of the application was started back in 2004 and was followed by the initial launch of the product in December 2005.
In order to provide a good and reliable application and at the same time maintaining the total cost of ownership at a minimum, the team inside dcs+ concentrated on the following elements:
Hardware and software infrastructure
Designing TINA, the development team has always kept in mind two factors regarding hardware and software infrastructure inside the travel agency: cost and ease of deployment. By choosing to develop a web based application, both factors were covered. From the cost point of view, the hardware requirements for the server running the application are no more than a high end desktop computer. The server hardware represents the only possible addition to the travel agency hardware infrastructure as the client computers only need to be able to run an internet browser (always available together with the most widespread operating systems). In this respect, there is no need to upgrade the workstations of the travel agents. Also from the cost point of view, the software necessary to be installed on the server does not imply any additional cost.
From the deployment and configuration point of view, all the software necessary to run TINA is available as installation packages that usually include an very easy to use wizard interface, requiring minimum knowledge from the server administrator point of view.
Accessibility of the application
Being designed as a web based application, accessing TINA is just a matter of internet connection availability. If there is an internet connection (or a network connection) available from the workstation to the TINA server, than accessing the application only requires the correct url to be inputted inside the internet browser available on the workstation. Imagine that you are the manager of a travel agency, you are currently inside an airport going to a meeting and you need some piece of information from TINA. If an internet connection is available you are able to access the application from any terminal (you own or a public workstation).
Security
Based on the latest web technologies available, TINA is compliant with a wide variety of security policies currently employed by travel agency across the world. TINA also includes users access rights management, providing the system administrator with the necessary tools to enforce the travel agency security policy.
